Sew,Mama,Sew! Blog " " Stitching for the Home Reversible Appliance Covers.
First measure all the way round the sides and write down this number. Cut two fabric strips on the bias from the yard piece of fabric ( explained in detail below ). You'll need about 30 total of bias strips, though it is always better to make too much than not enough. To chop fabric on the bias, tidily lay out your fabric with one of the selvage edges closest to you. Align your ruler at a forty five degree angle to the closest selvage edge and cut the fabric punctiliously along this angle. Don't forget, its just fine to make more than you'll need, as it may be employed for another project.
It helps to employ a heavyweight needle and a longer stitch length when stitching all these layers.
Now move your fingers out an in. ( toward the fabric point ) and place a pin thru the fabric. *If the fit is too snug, rip out your seams and redraw your line closer to the point. If the fit is too loose, simply redraw your line further in and stitch ( no necessity to rip seams ). If one of the pieces is longer compared to the other, pin the 2 sections together along the lower edge. It's important the points overlap a bit and the stitching is near to the edge. Open the tape up and fold both edges in so they meet at the crease you simply made. You can either hand stitch the bias tape closed with a slip stitch or machine stitch the tape in place. If you machine stitch the tape, be certain to catch both sides of the bias tape in your stitching. It may help to trim the lower edge of the cover pieces a bit to make sure that the tape matches up on both sides. Oh what a funny concept, I cant wait to dress up all my Kitchen Appliances and in the in the meantime. Im waiting for the first one to post footage of a well dressed refrigerator or anything big like that. Im wondering what appliances I should move to our counter just so I may make a comfortable for them. If any one wants to give me their nice lovely mixer, Id be pleased to make a cover hee hee. I like this project is reversible so you can truly customise this to your decor or to the time of the year.
