The Area of Peel is hosting a Conservation Day when Mississauga residents are invited to drop off unsafe waste,, reusable products like appliances, used electronic apparatus, and even old bills and chequebooks for shredding.
Conservation Day will occur at the Petro-Canada Lubricants Facility at Southdown Rd. W and Royal Windsor Dr, from 8:30 am to three p.m. A corresponding yearly event was formerly known as Environment Day. The main difference between Environment Day and Conservation Day is that we are now not accepting tires, wood waste and scrap metal, announces Larry Conrad, Chief of Waste Operations.
These were never preferred drop-off items at Environment Day events, and eliminating these items permits us to run a better event for less cost.. Tires, waste wood and scrap metal can still be delivered across the year at any Peel community recycling centre with a wide selection of other re-usable and waste items, including household unsafe waste. If you're taking non-perishable food donations with you tomorrow, you will receive will get a $10 voucher that is used to drop-off reusable materials and waste at a CRC. Food donations will be distributed to local Peel food banks. Residents could also exchange damaged recycling boxes for new ones, or buy extra boxes for $6. Yard composters, organics bins, kitchen boxes ; rain barrels ; and water potency kits will be available.
