The fire service announced 2 gas rings had been turned on rather than one An 18-month-old girl has been burned in a situation concerning a gas cooker at a YHA youth hotel. The girl received burns to her face and left hand and was treated by paramedics at the hotel in Capel Curig, Conwy. She was later moved to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor by ambulance. The girl was discharged from hospice and returned to the hotel where her folks, from Surrey, are continuing with their vacation.
Alan Williams, from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, declared that gas cooking appliances can be perilous if they don't seem to be used with the highest of care. "In this situation, it would appear the youthful girl concerned was with her folks in the kitchen area of the hotel preparing some food," he claimed. "While turning on the appliance to cook, one of her folks appears incidentally to have turned on 2 gas rings rather than one, which caused too much gas in the atmosphere for an ordinary ignition. "The surplus gas then seems to have caused a minor flashover, which caused the wounds to the youthful girl." Duncan Simpson from the YHA claimed : "Our sympathy goes to the youthful girl, and to her folks and the buddies who were travelling with her. "We are happy that she was discharged from infirmary, returned to YHA yesterday evening and today she is out sight seeing with her folks. "YHA takes the health and safety of guests seriously. "The gas appliances at the property were serviced last week as an element of routine agreements. The correct procedures were followed and the event will be analyzed by our Health and Safety team as an element of these procedures.". Discover more about what is occurring across the area.
